About Sesame Seed

November 3, 2017

Sesame seeds come from an herbaceous plant native to Indonesia and East Africa.  They are common in  Asian and Middle Eastern dishes but are also used as a garnish on bread.

Sesame seeds are frequently grown to make oil. Tahini is a thick paste made from ground sesame seeds. You can make Tahini by grinding sesame seeds with a little toasted sesame oil to make a smooth paste.
